The street poster collage series began after a trip to Berlin in 2016. The abundance of wheat pasted advertisements around the city felt like an invitation to collect materials that could later be reassembled into new compositions.

The series aims to replicate the deterioration process that naturally occurs to these posters in the wild. As the paper becomes weathered it starts to peel and reveal other advertisements underneath. This natural process can sometimes yield surprising and interesting combinations of design elements that make a new unintended image that is more striking than the actual advertisements. In the wild these combinations are uncontrollable. By taking the posters from the streets and bringing them into the studio, these combinations of typography, imagery, and layering can be controlled to create purposeful compositions that feel as if they naturally occurred on the streets.
